Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide based on the endogenous immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg), extended with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro sequence to enhance metabolic stability. The complete sequence is Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro, with a molecular weight of approximately 751.87 Da. In immune cell models, Selank demonstrates potent immunomodulatory activity inherited from its tuftsin core. In vitro studies using monocyte and macrophage cultures have shown that Selank modulates phagocytic activity and influences cytokine expression profiles.
